Workday Specialist- Financial Modules

Overview
We're seeking a skilled Workday Financials professional to lead administration, configuration, optimization, and support of the Workday Financial Management (FDM) platform. This role partners with Finance, IT, and external vendors to ensure system stability, compliance, and efficient financial operations.


Key Responsibilities

  • Administer, configure, support, test, and maintain Workday Financials modules.
  • Support and maintain financial structures including chart of accounts, worktags, cost centers, posting rules, budgets, approvals, and workflows.
  • Lead and support implementations, enhancements, release planning, and post-production support.
  • Configure and optimize Workday Financials modules including GL, AP, AR, Procurement (WSS), Expenses, Projects, Grants, Fixed Assets, Banking & Settlement, and Financial Reporting.
  • Support core financial processes including AP, AR, asset management, financial close, and reporting.
  • Develop and maintain standard and custom Workday reports, dashboards, and calculated fields; support audits and data validation.
  • Support integrations, EIB data loads, mass updates, reconciliations, and ongoing data integrity.
  • Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and collaborate with Finance, IT, AMS providers, and external vendors.
  • Serve as a key point of contact between Finance, IT, and Workday partners; support training and documentation.

Minimum Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant professional experience.
  • 5+ years of ERP application experience and support.
  • 3+ years of hands-on Workday Financials experience.
  • Proven experience leading Workday Financial implementations, post-production support, or large-scale enhancements.
  • Strong knowledge of financial operations including AP, AR, GL, internal controls, GAAP compliance, financial close, balance sheet, procurement lifecycles, Grants, Accounting Center, and financial reporting.
  • Advanced Workday reporting experience (custom reports, Workday Report Writer, dashboards, calculated fields).

Technical Skills

  • Certification and proficiency in core Workday Financials modules.
  • Experience with Workday Studio, EIBs, and Cloud Connect integrations (banking, payroll, procurement, third-party systems).
  • Strong Excel and Microsoft Office skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and financial documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Additional Workday module certifications.
  • MBA or CPA.
